TMT and LAPTOP
When I was posted at Jalandhar there was one officer Jagjit Singh with whom I got quiet close to and we used to share our lighter sides with each other . He was very blunt and never used to hesitate in saying anything and just stopped after reaching the thin line separating decency and vulgarity but never crossed it . Once I called him on phone on a Sunday and asked in punjabi
“Sir ki kar rahe ho Sunday noon koi programme banana hai bahar challan daa?(Sir! what are you doing on a Sunday ?Do you want to make some programme for outing ?)
He replied
“Oh nahin yaar aaj te apaan TMT ho kay TV dekh rahein aan( Oh no yaar! Today I am TMT and watching TV)
I querried,”What is TMT?”
He replied,” O hee ! Taang Mein Taang”(The same, Leg in Leg)
I asked,”Kiday naal”(With whom?)
He replied,” Oh Jalandhar te family station hain so it has to be my wife only”(Since Jalandhar is a family station hence it has to be my wife only)
He further asked me,”Too ki kar rihan hain”(What are you doing?)
I replied,”Main vee Laptop tey TV dekh rihaan haan”( I am also on laptop and watching TV)
He querried, ”Lap kisdee hain te top tein kaun hai ?”(Whose lap is it and who is on the top of lap?)
I replied,”Is noo suspense hee rahen do?(Let this be a suspense only)”
He said ,”Yaar too tey apni situation clear hi nahin kardaa. Main tey unjay hi majaak kar riha see. Main tey kalla TMT ho kay baithan TV dekh rihaa teh baal sukha rihaan haan”(Yaar! you do not clarify your situation. I was just joking. I am sitting alone keeping one leg over the other, watching TV and drying my hair)
Seeing him change the situation I replied,
“Main kehra serious ho kay keh rihaan haa, main vee tey apnay laptop te kal di chief engineer di presentation bana rihaan haan”( I am also not serious and am preparing for the tomorrow’s presentation for the chief engineer on my laptop computer)
He then replied ,”Mainoon teh lag riha hai ki apaan dono heen jhooth bol rahein haan”( I am getting a feeling that we both are telling lies now)
I then burst out laughing saying,”Main noon vee aihee lag rihaa hai”(I am also feeling the same)He said “OK then lets enjoy TMT and laptop” and we both finished our tele talk.
